The Board of Supervisors heard a presentation from Barbara Moy of the Department of Public Works and approved on first reading an ordinance to vacate portions of Fairfax Avenue and West Point Road and various public-service easements to permit the Hunters View redevelopment project to reconfigure streets and infrastructure.
Barbara Moy described the affected area as part of an approximately 23-acre site near Evans and Middle Point Road in the Bayview district, and said vacating the two street segments would allow rehabilitation, reconfiguration and new infrastructure to support the large housing development. The public hearing on the street vacations produced no public speakers; the chair closed public comment and the board passed the ordinance on first reading by a 10–1 roll call vote.
The item will return for additional reading and any required environmental or procedural follow-up prior to final action.
