Board rejects referral; approves contested Sunshine Ordinance Task Force appointment

He said an incumbent member who had served effectively might deserve consideration for the now-open seat, and that a re-referral would allow the committee to consider both vacancies together, giving a fairer competition.
Supervisor Chris Daly and Rules Committee members who had reviewed Johnson’s application opposed the referral. Daly and others said Johnson had attended task force meetings after the committee recommended appointment and that he appeared qualified. Supervisor Dufty said Johnson had followed the committee’s direction and “came back before us,” and the committee was comfortable forwarding his nomination.
