The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Oct. 2 continued a resolution urging the Golden Gate Bridge Board of Directors to oppose a proposed partnership that would allow corporate logos on wayfinding signage, posters, kiosks and displays on Golden Gate Bridge property.
Supervisor McGoldrick introduced the resolution and said robust public dialogue and additional time were warranted. He said the Bridge Board staff and Golden Gate Bridge Board members had been responsive to local concerns and that the matter appeared likely to return to the Bridge Board later in October. McGoldrick moved to continue the item for two weeks; Supervisor Ammiano seconded the motion. The item was continued by unanimous consent.
During the roll-call discussion, supervisors noted ongoing studies related to the bridge — including a median barrier funding update from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and a separate study of suicide deterrent options — and said they wanted more time to coordinate with the Bridge Board and community members.
The continuation delays any formal action by the Board of Supervisors; the resolution remains on the Board’s calendar and is expected to return at a future meeting for further consideration or a final vote.
