Supervisors approve amended findings to reverse approval of mitigated negative declaration for 601 Debose Avenue

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Oct. 2 adopted findings related to reversing the Planning Commission's approval of a mitigated negative declaration for the 601 Debose Avenue project, adopting an amendment that narrows language about the adequacy of environmental review.

Supervisor Ammiano moved to amend the draft findings by striking specified quoted language through a referenced phrase and to retain language leaving certain determinations to a future hearing when CPMC's larger plan has been completed. Supervisor McGoldrick seconded the amendment. The roll call vote on the item as amended recorded 10 ayes; Supervisor Dufty was recused from the matter.

The amendment targeted language on page 2, line 10 of the findings and sought to preserve deference to future hearings concerning CPMC’s larger campus plan. Ammiano said the amendment codified points made by colleagues during the hearing and left determinations of adequacy to a subsequent process tied to CPMC’s overall plan.

After the amendment was moved and seconded, the board took a roll call. Supervisors voting aye included Sandoval, Aliotta Pier, Ammiano, Chu, Daly, Elsburn, Maxwell, McGoldrick, Mercarimi and Peskin. The chair announced the motion was approved as amended.

Supervisor Dufty was recorded as recused on the item.
