Board continues budget items one week; approves police MOU ordinance

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on July 10 continued items that make up the consolidated budget and related salary/appropriation ordinances for the City and County to a week-long hearing scheduled for July 17, while formally approving a separate ordinance implementing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the San Francisco Police Officers Association (SFPOA).

Budget continuance - Items 9 through 41, which included the consolidated budget and annual appropriation ordinance for the City and County (fiscal year ending June 30, 2008), salary ordinance changes and several grant acceptance items, were continued one week to the July 17 meeting. The continuance was made by Supervisor McGoldrick and seconded by Supervisor Elsburn; colleagues approved by unanimous voice/consent in the meeting record. The Board noted Section 9.190.1 of the City Charter requires the Board not to approve a budget prior to July 15 and the Board customarily lets the proposed budget sit for one week before the first vote.
