Board continues $19.7 million appropriation for children, seniors and disabled programs to June 5 as supervisors await mayoral budget

Daly urged the mayor and board to hold formal policy discussions to avoid an escalation that could delay housing and services. "The money is available," Daly said in reference to the supplemental appropriations; he urged convening to resolve issues around timing and release of funds.
After Daly’s remarks Supervisor Daly moved to continue Items (including Item 23) to the June 5 meeting; Supervisor Duffy seconded. The motion was approved without objection and the ordinance was continued.
Clarifying details from the agenda: the ordinance as read by the clerk listed an appropriation amount of $19,719,628 for children, senior and disabled programs. The committee report on the package came out without recommendation. The motion to continue was made to allow time for alignment with the mayor’s forthcoming budget submission and to receive any additional information the committee wanted prior to action.
What’s next: Item 23 will return to the board on June 5 after the mayor submits the balanced budget on June 1, at which point supervisors said they expect to weigh whether the package is included in the mayor’s proposal or requires separate board action.
