Lemont awards $793,911 resurfacing contract to PT Farrell for 2025 MFT program

The Village of Lemont on April 14 awarded the 2025 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) resurfacing contract to PT Farrell for $793,911.23, covering Pfeiffer Avenue, Division Street, Hickory Street, Wymer Avenue, Kip Place and portions of Stephen Street.
Staff said the board received nine bids and that the low bid from PT Farrell was approximately $126,000 below the engineer's estimate. During discussion a trustee asked whether the engineer's estimate had been available in time for budgeting; village staff said the fiscal year budget had allocated more than $1 million for resurfacing work and that the engineer's estimate was about $919,000, meaning the low bid fell under both the engineer's estimate and the village budget.
"No. So we budgeted more than a million dollars for this year," a staff member said when asked about the budget timeline and whether the lower bid provided a budgetary benefit. "The engineer's estimate when we figured it all out came out to about 919,000. So they were under even our budget. And then Farrell came in even under that."
Trustees voted to award the contract to PT Farrell for the bid amount. The board's clerk introduced the resolution as R-25-25 and asked for a motion; the motion passed on roll call.
The item had been advertised and received multiple bids, which staff said was attributable to early release of the project for bidding.
