EPCOR reports mains upgrades, tank rehab and three new wells planned for Clovis system

Mark Quartet, EPCOR operations representative, told the Water Policy Advisory Committee that the utility continually monitors well performance and daily system delivery to calculate the supply-to-capacity percentage used to trigger city water restrictions.
Quartet outlined a range of ongoing projects where EPCOR is coordinating with roadwork to replace older, small-diameter mains, add valves and infill hydrants. He cited the US 60/84 road project and the MLK corridor work as opportunities to upgrade pipe and replace or add fire hydrants. He also said contractors are rehabbing the tank at 14th and Norris (blasted, recoated and safety features added) with completion expected by the end of the month.
Quartet said EPCOR is pursuing acquisition and design for three additional wells that would add approximately 500 gallons per minute of capacity when brought online. He also updated the committee on a Sycamore valve that had been believed inoperable; after work on the gearbox and operating nut the valve appears operational and a full replacement may not be necessary. Quartet invited committee questions and noted EPCOR provides conservation rebates and customer audit kits through its conservation web resources.
The committee thanked Quartet for the update and asked staff for follow-up on well locations and project timing.
