County administration walked on a notice on April 15 that the City of Doraville had delivered a letter electing to resume its own residential sanitation service, ending the county’s weekly collection service effective May 30, 2025. The item was presented as a termination under the sanitation division’s intergovernmental agreement and staff routed it to the Public Works & Infrastructure (PWI) committee.
“...the city has presented us with a letter that they wish to go back to providing their own, sanitation service effective 05/30/2025,” Mister Williams said when introducing the walk-on. Commissioners discussed whether additional committee discussion was necessary; staff noted the contract and intergovernmental agreement anticipate the city’s option to terminate.
One commissioner asked whether additional material beyond the termination notice would be needed in committee; staff said the termination was consistent with the IGA and that there was “not much” else to add, recommending consent placement if appropriate. The chair directed the item to PWI for formal processing.
Ending: Staff will present the termination paperwork and any related transition details to the PWI committee; no final action occurred at the Committee of the Whole meeting.
