Two members of the public addressed the committee during the allotted public comment period.
John (surname unclear) introduced himself and said he had documents to place into the record, referenced a JSO trespass citation and multiple regional meetings, and urged support for tourism and public access to waterways. He asked that his materials be included in the permanent record and named several officials and organizations in passing. The committee accepted his submission; no questions followed his remarks.
Tina Pham, president of the Asian Chamber of Commerce (two years old), thanked the committee and the JSEB staff for their work and described the Chamber's goal to connect Asian small-business owners (including Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai, Laotian and Filipino communities) with resources. She said many business owners were unaware of JSEB services and requested collaboration to bring resources and initiatives to the Asian business community. Pham invited council members to a civic event the Chamber is cohosting on April 28 at VyStar Arena to commemorate and honor Vietnam War veterans; she said the event is free and open to veterans and families and that she would follow up with an emailed invitation.
Committee members acknowledged the comments and a staff member in the room offered to follow up with the Chamber to coordinate outreach.
