Summary
The board approved the Guardrail 2 progress monitoring report after staff reported a large increase in dual-language immersion lesson alignment to district unit guides and scheduled anti-racist staff training with a local partner.
The Creighton School District governing board voted to adopt Guardrail 2 Progress Monitoring Report 2 after staff presented learning-walk data showing sharp gains in curriculum use in the district's dual language immersion (DLI) classrooms and a plan to provide anti-racist training for staff this spring.
Staff reported that the district's interim measure for curriculum alignment in DLI classrooms—measured by a learning-walk rubric—was set to rise from 37% (March 2024) to 45% (March 2025). The March 2025 observations showed 92% of DLI lessons met a score of 3 or greater on the rubric for curriculum resources and planning, surpassing the interim target.
"We commend our principals and teachers for leading a focused community of practice," said Dr. Pambo, citing principals, coaches and teacher collaboration across the two dual-language campuses as a major factor in the improvement. Board members publicly praised the site leadership and staff for the results.
The report also covered the district's access, equity and inclusion (AEI) work tied to Guardrail 2. Staff described canceling a broad RFP process after concluding the scope was too large to capture in a single procurement; instead the district contracted a local organization, the Urban Connection Project, to provide three one-hour anti-racist training sessions for staff between April 23 and May 7. Staff said the AEI training is intended as phase one of a continuing initiative; impact will be assessed and used to shape subsequent-year plans.
Board action: The board moved, seconded and approved the Guardrail 2 progress monitoring report. The motion passed by voice vote and the chair announced the report approved.
