Environmental Commission reports Earth Day outreach, surveys and role advising Climate Action Plan update

The city presented proclamations for Arbor Day and Earth Day and received a briefing from the Environmental Commission at the April 15 meeting.
Commission members reported that they collected over 70 community surveys at the city’s Earth Day event at Dolphin Park. Commissioners said initial feedback was largely positive about the city’s environmental efforts but that some respondents raised recurring concerns: occasional air odors, illegal dumping, litter and limited recycling access. The commission said it will continue analyzing survey results and share recommendations with the council and staff.
Commissioners also told the council they discussed air-pollution monitoring and refinery-related issues and that the commission and stakeholders will advise staff on the update to the Carson Climate Action Plan.
The council presented proclamations recognizing Arbor Day (April 25) and Earth Day (April 22) and thanked the commission and staff for outreach work.
