The Carson City Council voted unanimously to accept an $86,900 grant from Clean Power Alliance’s innovation fund to launch an EV charging “wallet” pilot program intended to make public charging more affordable for residents who cannot charge at home.
Energy and sustainability staff said the Clean Power Alliance award was competitive and that the amount awarded to Carson will be used to design and launch the pilot, with staff returning to council this summer to present program guidelines and implementation options.
The funding agreement approved by council authorizes the city to accept the grant; program specifics, eligibility criteria and the final design will be developed and brought back to the council for decision.
