Stanislaus County supervisor's office signals interest in bringing hospital to West Side; Crow's Landing cited as possible site

Noelia, representing Stanislaus County Supervisor Chance Condit, told the Newman City Council on Sept. 9 that Supervisor Condit is open to exploring ways to bring a hospital to the West Side of the county. The representative also mentioned that the former Crow's Landing airbase could be an appropriate site for such a facility.

"He lso wanted me to share that he thinks that the former airbase in Crow's Landing would be the right destination to do so," Noelia said. She prefaced her remarks by referencing recent media articles about the possibility of an expanded casino and a hospital on the county's West Side, and said the supervisor is willing to consider options that could increase local access to advanced healthcare.

The council received the statement as an informational update; no city action, endorsement or funding decision was taken at the meeting. The remarks reflect a county-level interest and do not constitute a city commitment to a project or to any particular site. Council members thanked the representative for appearing.

Any formal proposal for a hospital, casino, or redevelopment of the Crow's Landing site would require separate county and possibly state-level processes, environmental review and land-use approvals, none of which were discussed or decided by the Newman City Council at the Sept. 9 meeting.
