The Board of Mayor and Aldermen opened a public hearing Oct. 9, 2025, on Ordinance 2025-27, a measure that would repeal the existing zoning ordinance and zoning map, adopt a new zoning ordinance and zoning map, and amend Title 14 of the Lehi Verne Municipal Code. The presiding official said the measure "received a favorable recommendation from the planning commission on 07/29/2025."
The hearing drew a public comment from Jim Hazeman, who identified himself as a resident at 141 Vaughnwood Drive and spoke in support of reclassifying the Vaughnwood area as estate residential. Hazeman said current property owners had provided signatures and that several named owners back the designation. "We feel like our needs should be honored in that regard," he said. Hazeman named supporters and property owners he said would be affected, including Mrs. Vaughn, Jim Kelsey, Chris Felts, the Felts and the Maddox family, and said he left a complete list of owners with meeting staff. He also told the board that, at the last Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the item "received a unanimous vote from your members here," a comment he attributed to the earlier meeting rather than a formal action taken during the Oct. 9 hearing.
No other members of the public spoke on the ordinance during the hearing, and the presiding official closed that portion of the public hearing. The transcript of this hearing does not record any formal vote or final action on Ordinance 2025-27; the planning commission recommendation noted at the hearing remains the only formal recommendation referenced on the record. Further action or a date for final consideration by the board was not specified in the transcript.
