Commission approves Advanced Drainage Systems sign variance for new Hilliard campus

The Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 9 approved a sign-variance request for Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) that allows a larger wall sign on the company's building along the I-270 frontage.
Staff explained the proposed sign, which combines a large ADS logo and separate lettering reading “Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc.,” measured as a single rectangle would exceed the code allowance; measured separately the logo and lettering would comply. Staff found the design "architecturally integrated" and consistent with the PUD concept and recommended approval with two conditions.
ADS representatives Heather Schreiber, director of marketing, and Joe Joffrey, director of real estate and facilities, addressed the commission. Schreiber thanked the commission, saying, "We would like to thank the committee for all of your support through this, and our ability to add to the already beautiful skyline of Hilliard." Commissioners had no substantive questions.
A motion to approve the assigned variance, with the two staff conditions, passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
