Lago Vista council corrects Turnback Trail agreement, authorizes city manager contract and approves several other measures

Lago Vista City Council members on Wednesday instructed the city attorney to amend a development agreement for the Turnback Ranch (Dodge Trail/Turnback Trail extension), authorized the mayor to negotiate and execute a contract for a new city manager and approved a set of other routine and community items, including park naming and public-art installations.

The changes to the Turnback Ranch development agreement address a mistaken statutory citation in the agreement and were adopted after the city attorney told council the developer and staff agree a single-line amendment would correct the legal reference. City Council also voted to authorize the mayor to negotiate and execute a contract for a new city manager within parameters discussed in executive session. Other council actions included approving an alternate public art piece proposed by Keep Lago Vista Beautiful, adopting a request to name the green space adjacent to the library “Library Friends Park,” and adopting an amendment to the municipal pool fee schedule.

The Turnback Ranch amendment is procedural: the change replaces an incorrect statutory reference in the development agreement that governs conveyance of property for the new roadway entry and clarifies the legal authority for that conveyance.
