Senate confirmations committee advances nominees to four Alabama boards

The committee heard four grouped sets of nominees and recorded unanimous committee approval for each. The first group listed "Padron Brown, Kim Davis and Thera Herring" for the body identified in the transcript as the "Alabama Fam Trust Board of Trustees." Senator Sessions moved a favorable report on that group, Senator Jones seconded, and the committee recorded an 8-0 favorable tally in committee.
The committee then considered nominees to the University of South Alabama Board of Trustees: James Jantz, Meredith Hamilton, Robert Jenkins, Michael Windham, Bill Lewis, Chandra Stewart and Catherine Atkins. Senator Sessions moved the favorable report and Senator Singleton seconded. A committee member noted that several appointees had schedule conflicts; staff representative Nick Locke told the committee that a bill to restructure certain trustee seats does not affect these specific nominees.
Nominations to the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees — Levelyn Rhone, Goodrich Rogers, Valerie Gray and J. E. B. Shell — were next. Valerie Gray introduced herself to the committee, saying she is "a proud resident of Senate District 13, Congressional District 3, and seeking reappointment to the Alabama Community College System. I'm a retired economic developer." Senator Price moved a favorable report, Senator Sessions seconded, and the committee voted 9-0 in favor. The committee record shows these community college nominations are reappointments.
Finally, the committee advanced the nomination of Hope Marshall to the Alabama Securities Commission. Marshall was not present; Amanda Sand and Beau Brown attended on behalf of the commission. Senator Jones moved a favorable report, Senator Carnley seconded, and the committee voted 9-0 in favor.
All four groups were forwarded with favorable committee reports. The committee adjourned after the confirmations were recorded.
