The Glenn Heights City Council approved Resolution R-12-25 to contract with TJ's Professional Painting and Construction LLC for repair, sandblasting and painting of the city's ground storage water tank at 601 West Bear Creek Road in an amount not to exceed $99,942.43.
Andrew Waits, the city's public works director, told council the work covers repair, sandblasting and painting of the tank and that the painted finish has a life expectancy of approximately 25 years. Waits said the contractor provides a one-year workmanship warranty. Council members asked whether a city logo could be added; staff said the tank is not visible from the road and that adding a logo was not included in the current scope but that staff could request a separate quote if council wanted the option.
Council members confirmed the work is included in the capital improvement plan (CIP) and that the contract comes from a cooperative purchasing vehicle (BuyBoard) and an MBE/Texas Hub vendor list. Waits said the tank is a ground storage tank holding roughly 1,000,000 gallons. The council approved the resolution 6-0 and directed staff to pursue a logo quote separately if council wants it later; staff said the logo would require additional budgeting if accepted.
The contract award does not add the logo at this time; staff will return with a separate quote and potential budget amendment if the council chooses to add a logo in the future.
