Contra Costa Fire Board adopts resolution after report shows 100% inspections of schools and multifamily units

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Board of Directors on April 15 adopted Resolution No. 2025-01 and accepted the district's 2024 inspection compliance report, which the fire chief said showed 100% completion of required inspections for both educational and multi-family residential occupancies.

The board adopted the resolution after receiving the inspection report and brief discussion. Chief McAllister told the board the district inspected all required educational occupancies in 2024 and achieved full compliance for multi-family residential units. A motion to adopt the resolution passed unanimously 4-0 with Director Joya excused.

Chief McAllister summarized the district's inspection results: "I'm happy to report to the board that in 2024 we inspected 100% of our educational occupancies. That was 233 occupancies. And our multi-family residential occupancies ... we had 100% compliance from our fire inspection group." A board member responded, "That is a wonderful thing," noting the district's improved record compared with previous years.

The report was presented under the agenda item described as D-1, which the board moved and voted to adopt during the meeting. No members of the public registered comments on the inspection report during the meeting.

The board designated Director Scales Preston as the seconder on the recorded motion after a brief confusion about the seconder. The motion passed by a unanimous vote of the four directors present; Director Joya was excused for a family matter.

The resolution and inspection report will be part of the district's official records; the board did not specify additional follow-up actions during the meeting.
