Assembly approves trail improvements, Jonesville design, fish-passage grants and several consent items

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly on April 15 approved a slate of ordinances, resolutions and contract awards—many on the consent agenda or with no recorded objection. Key outcomes:
- Ordinance 25-040 and Resolution 25-032: Accepted and appropriated $7,500 from the Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation for Segal Horse Trail improvements; resolution approving scope and budget. Passed without objection.
- Ordinance 25-041 and Resolution 25-033: Accepted and appropriated $50,000 from the Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation to begin design for the Jonesville public use area (shooting park design/feasibility). Passed without objection.
- Ordinance 25-049 and Resolution 25-037: Accepted $932,200 from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Sustainable Salmon Fund to support Kings Lake and Anderson Lake fish-passage improvements; match funding already appropriated. Passed without objection.
- Ordinance 25-051: Appropriation of $66,663 from Talkeetna Flood Service Area fund balance to the FY2025 operating budget to facilitate a change order for revetment/dike work. Passed.
- Ordinance 25-052: Adoption of the borough comprehensive safety action plan (MSB 15.24 0.03 B 47). Passed.
- Consent agenda items adopted included: Resolution 25-038 (unincorporated communities participation in FY2026 Community Assistance Program); Resolution 25-042 (extend time frame for an emergency services station building project); Resolution 25-043 (amend scope for Port MacKenzie deferred maintenance); AM 25035 (approve NSTAR Natural Gas utility relocation costs); AM 25036 (change order for Talkeetna revetment and dike repair); AM 25038 (award to supply a fire prevention training trailer); AM 25039 (award to Navision Architecture for Birch Street Charter School design); AM 25037 (award for landfill fencing installation), among others.
Most of these items were routine budget appropriations, grant acceptances or contract awards; the Assembly approved the consent agenda and the individual ordinances listed above either by unanimous voice or without recorded objection.
