Shetler said the recommended right‑of‑way is 60 feet (30 feet from the center line) and that adjacent property owners were notified per statute.
Public comment and staff response
Two residents who said they own land on the road spoke at the public hearing, asking whether legalization would change the physical width of the road or lead to paving or other construction. “We would be losing a lot of property,” one resident said, asking how the action would affect private land. Shetler responded in the hearing that there are no plans to develop, pave or widen the road and that the legalization is intended to correct the survey so future work (for example, the MSTIP bridge project that prompted the survey) can proceed with accurate right‑of‑way records. Shetler offered to meet with residents after the hearing to discuss property impacts in more detail.
Legal mechanics and next steps
The board’s resolution makes the legalization final upon filing the proposed record of survey in the County Surveyor’s Office. County staff said the record update was triggered by a nearby MSTIP bridge replacement project that required a retracement of existing public right‑of‑way.
