Joe Garza, assistant director of City of Pharr Development Services, invited board members and the public to a community open house in May to review an updated comprehensive plan.
The event will present the city's 10-year roadmap for future development, including land use, housing types, transportation, utilities and infrastructure, Garza said. He asked residents to attend and complete a short survey at the event to help shape priorities.
Garza said the meeting will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pepe Salinas Event Center on Kelly Avenue (behind the Costco). The city plans to staff a small "mini city hall," have members of the development team available, and provide raffles and family activities during the open house, Garza said.
Board members welcomed the invitation and stressed the importance of resident participation so the plan reflects local priorities.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; the open house was announced as an outreach opportunity and the city asked the public to provide input at the event.
