The Contoocook Valley School District opened a public hearing after staff said a recent audit found the Pierce School parking lot and the walkway that leads to the building are not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
At a meeting called to order before public comment, a staff member identified in the meeting as “Mister Grassi” told the board the ADA compliance issues resulted from an audit and months of follow-up including calls, photos and emails. Grassi said the district is requesting $12,400 to pay for civil engineering work that would produce plans the district can put out to bid and use to correct the noncompliant parking space and walkway.
“The request is for $12,400 for civil engineering. What that'll give us is a set of plans that are compliant, and we'll be able to put them out to bid and take care of this problem,” Grassi said.
The board kept the public hearing open for 30 minutes while it continued its regular meeting.
No final vote on funding or a contract for the engineering work was recorded in the transcript; Grassi described the request as a next step in the compliance process.
