The New Castle County boards and commissions subcommittee approved two travel requests by voice vote at its April 15 briefing.
Councilman Dave Carter sought approval to attend a National Association of Counties (NACo) regional forum on artificial intelligence, described as a two-day, one-night trip to Harrisburg; he moved to approve his request and members approved it by voice vote. Carter said the NACo task force work examines AI impacts on counties, including cybersecurity and efficiencies in government operations.
The subcommittee also approved a request for attendance at the Strong Towns conference in Providence, Rhode Island, in June. The sponsor described ongoing work with a coalition of agencies and nonprofits on land use, transportation, housing and community resilience and said the estimated cost was $1,553.95. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Both requests were approved at the briefing; the committee recorded voice votes of "Aye" with no recorded opposition.
