Grayson County court backs $1.455 million TxDOT grant application for North Texas Regional Airport taxiway

Grayson County Commissioners Court voted to authorize county staff to provide the certifications and adopt a resolution needed to apply for a TxDOT/FAA grant to build a south taxiway at North Texas Regional Airport.

County and airport representatives told the court the project is estimated at about $1,455,000 and would be paid largely with federal and state grant funds under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act; the local sponsor would provide the required 5% match. The application deadline and multiagency review timetable mean the county must sign a support resolution and designate an authorized representative so TxDOT can forward the packet to the Transportation Commission and then the FAA.

The airport representative said the taxiway would open development opportunities on the airport’s southern apron for hangar development, increasing airport revenue. Carrie Campbell of JV Aviation, who presented technical and timing details, said the grant program is funded through the IIJA and that some of the program’s fiscal-year allocations expire later this year. She described an administrative timeline in which TxDOT and the FAA must coordinate approvals before funds can be awarded.

County commissioners moved and approved the resolution and certifications on the record. Commissioner Arthur made the motion and Commissioner Wright seconded it; the court answered “Aye” and the motion carried.

The presenters cautioned the court that some fiscal-year amounts for 2026 are not yet announced and that the county may need to return later for a formal acceptance if additional FY-26 funding is allocated. No specific construction contract was approved at the meeting; the action was to authorize the county to proceed with the grant packet and required certifications so TxDOT can consider the project.
