The Springfield mayor's fiscal stability task force completed a nine-week review of the city's finances and will submit a final report to the City Council at a work session scheduled for May 19, city staff said.
City Manager Nancy Noon told council that independent analysis and the task force confirmed the city is "very lean" and that much of the low-hanging financial fixes have already been taken. "When I came to the city in April of 2020 ... the city runs very, very lean," Noon said, summarizing why the city convened the task force.
