Principals report enrollments, TCAP/EOC testing schedules and new therapy dog at Ralph Baskins

Ralph Baskins Principal Miss Baker reported school enrollment totals by grade: pre-K 64, kindergarten 109, first 87, second 68, third 78, fourth 91 and fifth 71, for a reported total of 568 students. Baker said the school held its second annual “women’s greeting” on Friday, where community volunteers greeted students during arrival, and that the school introduced a full-time therapy dog named Henry. The dog’s primary handler is Britney Barnett; Jennifer Walker is the secondary handler. Baker also reported TCAP testing at Ralph Baskins would begin the next day and continue through the following week.
Dr. West provided Fayetteville Middle School enrollment numbers: sixth grade 66, seventh grade 60 and eighth grade 74, totaling 200 students. Middle-school testing began the same day and was expected to extend over three weeks. Progress reports from Fayetteville Middle School were being distributed the following day; the school has upcoming eighth-grade events in May, including an eighth-grade night and a Tiger Breakout Day on May 19; fifth-grade visits from Askins were scheduled for May 13.
Fayetteville High School Principal Mister Perrin reported total enrollment of 303 students (seniors 93, juniors 78, sophomores 70, freshmen 62). Perrin said end-of-course (EOC) testing began the day of the meeting and that spring sports were active; he noted senior nights scheduled for soccer on April 29 at 5:30 p.m. and softball senior night in May. Perrin also thanked Michelle Mitchell for helping more than 70 students complete FAFSA forms, representing roughly a 10% increase from the prior year, according to the principal.
The board did not take action on operational items; principals’ reports were informational.
