Board approves salary scales, budgets, supplements and measures including teacher bonus resolution

At its April 2025 meeting, the Fayetteville City Schools Board of Education approved a series of finance and personnel measures including systemwide salary scales, building supplements, multiple budgets and a resolution to participate in Section 4 of the Education Freedom Act that provides a one-time $2,000 bonus to teachers.
During the Finance Committee portion of the meeting, the board approved payment of invoice number 1 from architectural firm JBHM for services related to the district gymnasium/safe room project (invoice and project identifiers were read into the record). The board approved teacher and principal salary scales for fiscal year 2025–26 (a 5% increase to the scale), the systemwide salary scale, and the support-staff salary scale for FY25–26. The board also approved supplements for Ralph Baskins, Fayetteville Middle School and Fayetteville High School for FY25–26.
The board approved the general-purpose budget, the cafeteria budget and the capital projects budget for fiscal year 2025–26.
On policy items, the board approved on first reading policy 5.302 (sick leave), policy 5.701 (substitute teachers) and I350 (repeating high school courses).
Separately, the board approved a resolution affirming the district’s intent to participate in Section 4 of the Education Freedom Act of 2025, which the resolution describes as providing a one-time $2,000 bonus to teachers. Board member Mister Jones introduced the resolution; the board approved it by voice vote. The board also approved a resolution designating May 1 as Teacher Appreciation Day.
