Subcommittee participants said they worked closely with Benton County's public information officer, Corey Grogan, and developed pathways beyond traditional newspaper notices to reach residents. "There are many other communication paths that people get information through," Marge said, praising the subcommittee's work with county staff.
Members highlighted a recommendation to notify residents within a set radius of the landfill and to include Polk County residents who have historically been left out of notifications. Joel described that recommendation as "thoughtfully done." Participants also noted the value of a neighborhood tour and a written history to provide institutional memory for SWAC.
