Coffey County approves $151,940 from reserve fund to cover two critical hospital capital repairs

Coffey County commissioners approved a request from Coffey County Hospital for $151,940 in county assistance to cover two capital replacements the hospital completed in 2024.
The letter presented to the board, signed by hospital CEO Stacy Augustine, listed a replacement rooftop HVAC unit ($114,115) and replacement of laboratory equipment ($37,825) that the hospital completed to avoid service disruptions. Representatives said the work was necessary because parts for the old HVAC unit were no longer available and the lab equipment had reached end of life.
Commissioner McCurry moved to authorize payment of the $151,940 from the Community Improvement Reserve Fund; Commissioner Thompson seconded the motion. The board voted in favor and the motion carried.
County staff said the payments will be handled via county check after the board authorized the transfer; commissioners asked staff to provide the invoices and supporting documentation for the county record.
