Brandon Valley board ratifies 2025-26 teacher contract, approves classified wage increase

The Brandon Valley School District Board of Education ratified the 2025-26 master agreement with the Brandon Valley Education Association and approved a separate wage recommendation for classified staff at its recent meeting.

Superintendent Larson thanked the teachers’ association for the negotiation process and summarized the key terms, saying, “2 and a half percent increase plus an increase to the salary enhancement, equating to a 3% wage increase or salary increase overall for teachers.”

The contract ratified by the board includes a 2.5% base increase and a salary enhancement that the district described as producing a 3% overall increase for certificated staff. Larson also told the board that the district and association negotiated modest reductions to employee health insurance deductibles and maximum out-of-pocket responsibilities.

Separately, the board approved a 2.5% wage increase for classified staff to align with the teachers’ contract and a proportional increase in the one-time salary enhancements paid in November. The classified wage recommendation also added Presidents Day as a paid holiday for classified employees.

Board discussion was brief; a board member described the negotiations as positive, saying, “It was another good experience. It’s all I have to add.” The meeting record shows the motions were moved and seconded and the board approved both items (the transcript records “Aye” and then “Motion passes” but does not list a roll-call tally).

The superintendent said the district will present a preliminary budget in May, hold its public budget hearing in July and return at a future meeting to seek approval of administrative salary recommendations and the superintendent’s contract.
