Board members moved and seconded a motion "to approve the application for the special event beer permit for Family Concessions LLC for the calendar year." The permit application covers events at Camp Jordan Arena; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all five members present voting yes.
During the discussion, Carpenter said she had operated in the concession stand for many years in East Ridge and noted a recent staffing change, saying "Randy passed away" and that she would step back in June. She told the board that Randy's contract was not due to expire until 2027 but that whoever follows her would need to apply for a separate special-event permit.
Members asked how often the concession operates; Carpenter said the ballpark is open most weekends and that Family Concessions provided service for events such as plant shows and ballpark games. The board asked about operating times and local oversight; Carpenter confirmed the concession generally finishes service earlier in the evening so staff can clear inventory while attendees remain on site.
The board's roll call recorded votes of yes from Vice Chairperson Walker, Board Member Cunningham, Board Member Maynor, Board Member Storey and Chairperson Cowan. No abstentions or no votes were recorded. The board adjourned after the vote.
The permit granted in this meeting covers a calendar year and, according to Carpenter, will apply to events scheduled through her tenure; she said a successor would be required to seek a new permit if they assume the concession before the permit's nominal expiration.
