The Sellersburg Town Council approved awarding the 2025 CCMG (community crossing matching grant) paving contract to Mac Construction for $98,381 on April 14 and received updates from town staff on several ongoing infrastructure issues, including stormwater, alley paving, and pothole reporting.
Public works and town staff said three bidders responded to the CCMG 2025-1 package opened April 3; Mac Construction submitted the low bid of $98,381, with other bids at $109,715 and $553,435. The council moved, seconded and approved the award to Mac Construction.
Town staff reported crews had begun work in the Millview neighborhood and listed streets and alleys included in the CCMG package. Staff said the project includes concrete gutters, storm drains and pavement; alleys and several street segments that were corrected in INDOT’s inventory were re-submitted and included in this year's package where accepted.
Flooding and stormwater: Staff and council discussed recent heavy rainfall and flash flooding. The town manager explained much of the town sits in floodplain and that mitigation includes detention/retention upstream but that very large storms can still produce flash flooding. Staff said county commissioners are moving toward adopting a stormwater ordinance and technical standards similar to Sellersburg’s and Jeffersonville’s, which would support countywide detention and help downstream impacts.
Potholes and road jurisdiction: Staff asked residents to report potholes through the town’s pothole portal; the town will forward reports that fall under INDOT or county jurisdiction. Officials said they have submitted repairs requests to INDOT and Clark County and expect certain county sections to be addressed within a week.
Traffic and US 31 project utility relocations: Staff warned residents that utility relocations tied to the US 31 project have begun and urged contractors to provide required traffic-control plans and notice to dispatch; staff said some utility contractors closed lanes without proper advance notice and staff will work to enforce notification procedures.
Why it matters: The CCMG award advances pavement work on local streets and alleys; updates on stormwater and INDOT utility relocations affect daily traffic, emergency-response routing and neighborhood flooding risks.
