Parks staff provided a brief operations update on the cemetery and community gardens.
Staff said the cemetery’s digital mapping is available on the city website and that staff plan to add on-site signs with QR codes to help visitors navigate plots. Staff also noted cemetery expenses were largely routine, though a notable purchase was a set of owl decoys and related materials to discourage birds; staff described other line-item timing issues tied to when purchases occurred.
Staff reported there have been two possible recent columbarium sales and that a third sale may be pending, which together could nearly match the revenue budget line for the year if all were recorded. Staff said the most recent sale had not yet been posted in the financial report and that the timing may affect year-to-date revenue lines.
On community gardens, staff said 13 garden plots are now available and that a plot sold about an hour before the meeting. Staff said they are monitoring soil temperatures and plan to till when conditions stabilize, likely within one to two weeks if warm weather continues.
Staff also noted routine spring maintenance and irrigation start-up at the golf course, including clearing clogged heads and resuming mowing; staff said one piece of equipment from the new fleet is delayed for repairs but mowing has begun on fairways.
