ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State Senate on April 14 passed a short-term budget extender that provides approximately $6.5 billion in appropriation authority to cover payroll and government operations through Thursday, approving the measure by a 52-1 roll call vote.
The extender, recorded in the Senate as the Assembly bill number 7923 (identical to Senate bill 7399), passed the Senate’s controversial calendar after floor questions and a period of debate. Section 2 of the measure states the action takes effect immediately.
