The Ellis County Commission voted to approve Resolution 2025-07, granting Conditional Use Permit (CUP) 2509 to allow equipment sales, storage and rental on the parcel at 1517 Feedlot Road in Ellis County.
The Joint Planning and Zoning Board reviewed the application March 26 and certified required steps including posting the property, notifying neighbors and collecting fees. "The unanimous decision of the planning and zoning commission at that time was to approve this," David McDaniel, chair of the Joint Planning and Zoning Board, told the commission.
The application drew no protests during the protest period, which McDaniel said ended April 9. Commissioners discussed whether the CUP carries forward to future owners; county staff indicated the permit remains with the land unless the use changes. After discussion the commission called the question; the motion passed 3-0.
The action clears the way for equipment sales, storage and rental to operate at the site under the permit's conditions. The planning board had noted the property previously hosted commercial activity and that current approval follows the board's finding-of-fact process.
Commissioners did not add further conditions at the meeting. Any changes to the land use in the future would require review under county zoning rules.
