Board approves partial high-school roof replacement; low bid awarded to Enterprise Roofing

The Troy School District board approved awarding the partial high-school roof replacement contract to Enterprise Roofing after receiving three qualifying bids.
District staff said the selected scope covers the main hallway from a defined point to the north main entry and that the base bid for that section is just over $349,000. The project will be paid from the district's permanent improvement (PI) fund, which the presenter said brings in about $800,000 annually; the project cost is roughly half of the PI levy's yearly receipts.
Staff explained they used state-contract pricing and state-approved contractors to help ensure firms were on an approved list after experiencing performance problems with low bidders in recent years. The staff recommended Enterprise as the low and responsible bidder; they also noted prior interactions with other firms and clarified that an earlier, unrelated fuel-tank project had been rebid because of timing and vendor delays.
The motion to accept Enterprise's bid was made and seconded at the meeting; the roll call recorded a majority approval with one abstention. (See actions for vote detail.)
