Wheat Ridge council approves three budget amendments and grant acceptance on consent agenda

The Wheat Ridge City Council unanimously approved three consent agenda resolutions April 14 that amend city budgets to accept an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant and to carry forward open-space project funding.
The first resolution amends the 2025 general fund budget to accept an $11,269 Byrne JAG award for police officer laptop computers. The second and third resolutions amend the 2025 open space fund to restore funding that had not been carried forward from 2024: $1,211,000 for the Panorama Park Tennis Courts contract awarded to Colorado DesignScapes Inc., and $898,911.56 for the Tabor Lake Trail contract awarded to JOC Contracting LLC.
Councilor Dozeman introduced the consent agenda. A motion to approve items 1a through 1c was moved and seconded; the clerk recorded no nays and stated the motion carried.
Staff noted that both park projects were previously budgeted in 2024 but the funds were not carried into the 2025 budget; these resolutions correct that oversight so construction contracts can proceed. The Byrne JAG funds will be used to purchase laptop computers for the police department.
