Staff said the draft retains prior focus areas but updates goals and objectives; the district leadership and district leadership team developed the plan and staff used survey feedback and other input to shape recommended objectives.
Administrators said they will not seek action on the draft at the meeting but asked board members to review the document and submit input. Staff also reported they are developing a process to appoint a student school board member for the next school year, likely drawing candidates from student council or honor society and creating selection criteria to be in place before the start of the next school year.
The board chair reported that a sick-leave bank request went before the designated committee, which included board members, and the committee approved the request. The chair said confidentiality precludes naming the requester or details. Separately, staff discussed an academy coordinator recommendation and said a contract will be presented to the board later when timing and retirement/TRA (Teacher Retirement Association) constraints are clear.
No formal action was taken on the strategic plan at the meeting; staff will return with a revised draft and timing for any formal vote.
