Business manager reports district is on track financially as construction continues; new stadium scoreboard will require power upgrades

At the regular meeting the board received a business manager’s report indicating the district is three quarters of the way through the budget year and on track for planned expenditures, and received a construction update on multiple capital projects.
The business manager reported the district has collected $19,103,000 in general-fund revenue (69% of budgeted revenue) and spent $18,964,000 (68% of the budget) at the 75 percent point in the year; comparable figures from the prior year were $18,117,000 collected (68%) and $18,321,000 spent (67%).
On construction, the high school addition has had all precast concrete walls set in place and crews will spend roughly three weeks on welding and placing steel to hold the walls and roof joists. Work on the Tiger Stadium scoreboard is ramping up; the business manager said the new scoreboard will require more electrical capacity than the district currently has and will require installation of a fiber-optic line from the scoreboard to the crow’s nest for control functions, so the district expects to invest in significant electrical and infrastructure work.
Other summer projects include middle-school boiler work scheduled to begin late May, middle-school roof replacement and a partial high-school roof replacement, interior renovations at the high school over the summer (including music rooms and kitchen), and welding-shop ventilation work in the CTE building. The business manager said, based on current schedules, projects are on track.
Board members asked no further questions during the report.
