Summary
Council heard updates that all departments have moved into the new city building at 1525 Goodale, but AV, parking striping and signage remain incomplete; staff expect public meetings in the new chambers by December. Council also discussed issuing an RFP for a parks master plan and a new SWACO-supported composting campaign.
Grandview Heights officials reported on Oct. 13, 2025 that all city departments have moved into the new municipal building at 1525 Goodale, and staff are using an interim plan for site storage and light operational needs while final punch-list work continues.
Mayor Kearns said staff are “uniformly reporting that they're happy and grateful for their new home,” and described several outstanding items: parking-lot striping and public signage have not been completed and the lot is not yet open to the public; audio-visual equipment and technology in council chambers and building common areas still need installation and testing. Because of the AV work, the city has secured its current meeting room for October and November and expects to be able to hold meetings in the new chambers for December pending completion of installation, testing and staff training.
Council also reviewed parks planning work. The city issued a request for proposals (RFP) for landscape-architecture and planning firms to develop a new parks master plan; the mayor said the last comprehensive plan dated to 2006 and that the new effort will incorporate recently acquired land, including the park near First Avenue and 1016 Grandview Avenue. The mayor noted the master-plan work is not yet budgeted and would be discussed during the budget process.
Operations updates included leaf collection and ongoing hydrant pumping; sidewalk replacement and alley concrete work were scheduled to begin the week of the meeting, while road paving in the marathon area is being held off until after the marathon. The city announced a six-week food-waste prevention and composting campaign called Save More Than Food in partnership with SWACO, with promotional materials and new signage at the drop-off supported by the partnership.
Officials said they will provide additional timelines for the remaining building punch-list items and for the parks master-plan procurement as those items progress through the budget and contracting process.
