PTR committee hears update on trail grant and schedules follow-ups; adjourns

Sherry, a committee member, told the Parks, Trails & Recreation committee on April 15 that the city has received a grant related to trails and that Jeremy Searle is heading the grant effort. "There's a grant that the city got regarding trails," she said.
Sherry said she now has a map the city owns and compiled with another volunteer showing easements and city-owned property; she said Jeremy wanted to attend a PTR meeting to discuss the grant and the map. "He would like to be a part of our PTR meeting on the 20 first or May 20, whenever our next meeting is in May," she said.
Committee members said the existing grant work includes a trail survey funded by a regional agency; speakers mentioned MAG (Mountainland Association of Governments) or UTA as possible funders but did not confirm which agency. Sherry said the trail work will position the city to apply for additional MAG or UTA grants once survey work is complete.
The committee scheduled its next regular meeting for May 20 and noted a related city council meeting on May 13. Committee members agreed to include the trail grant update on a future PTR agenda so Jeremy Searle and other grant staff can present details. Ted—s prior work on the grant was noted as background; Sherry said Ted had worked on the project earlier when he was with Jones & Mell.

Sherry moved to adjourn the meeting; another attendee seconded and the committee adjourned by voice vote.
