Board takes broad set of votes on ordinances, resolutions including hospital funding, health contracts and property sales

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on June 9 conducted roll call votes and same-house approvals on a range of ordinances and resolutions across city government. Key outcomes included:
- Appropriations for hospitals: Item 9, an ordinance appropriating approximately $14,200,000 to support cost overruns at San Francisco General Hospital and Laguna Honda Hospital in the Department of Public Health for fiscal year 2008-2009, was passed on first reading by roll call (11 ayes).
- IHSS contract: Item 13, a resolution approving the city's in-home supportive services contract with IHSS Consortium of San Francisco in an amount not to exceed $83,400,000, was adopted by same-house/ same-call.
- Mental health and substance-abuse contracts: Item 14, authorizing Department of Public Health contracts to provide mental health and substance abuse counseling services totaling approximately $84,000,000 for specified multi-year terms, was adopted by same-house/ same-call.
- Sales of properties: Item 18, an ordinance authorizing sale of 12 city-owned properties along the former Central Freeway and Octavia Boulevard, passed on first reading without objection.
- Caltrans maintenance agreements: Item 23, approving maintenance agreements between the City and Caltrans for certain right-of-way work, was adopted following committee recommendation.
- Several consent and adoption-without-committee items were adopted, including homeland-security grant authorizations referred to committee (items 27 and 28 were referred), a Port grant for oil-spill equipment (item 29), and various proclamations and resolutions on the 2010 Census, Stonewall anniversary and others (items 30-36, 38-39 with some continued or referred as recorded in the minutes).
Several items were continued or referred to committee at the meeting for further review (including items 27, 28, 37, 38, 39 and 40 in some combinations), and one item (Item 5) was rescinded and continued for a week at the request of a supervisor pending further information.
