Boise planning commission approves conditional use permit for heavy-vehicle sales at West Amity Road

The Boise City Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 27 approved CUP 25-2, a conditional use permit to allow heavy-vehicle sales, equipment and leasing at 1257 West Amity Road, voting in favor on a motion to adopt staff recommendations and an additional condition listed as item No. 7 in the late correspondence packet.

Planning staff told the commission the 3.26-acre site, in a Light Industrial (I-1) zone within Airport Influence Area C, has historically been used for industrial activities and is not proposing new buildings or changes to the rear storage yard. Planning staff said the city’s recent code adoption now requires vehicle sales in the I-1 zone to be approved through a conditional use permit and recommended approval with the added condition that appeared in the late correspondence packet.

Applicant Adam Ryzak, construction manager for Sunbelt Rentals, told the commission the company intends to follow the maintenance plan recommended by staff and to keep the site graded and free of mud and excessive ruts. "Part of our maintenance plan is going to be to keep it in that condition and keep the mud from forming," Ryzak said.

Planning staff said one piece of late correspondence was received in opposition to the proposal, citing concerns about site cleanliness and dust.
