Tom Shabaugh (county highway staff) said the curve has sediment buildup and thin fill over a culvert, creating a hazard where vehicles turning from the north to the east struggle with the alignment. His recommendation was to raise the curve by about one foot and regrade an adjacent 21-foot section of road shoulder to provide a safer turning radius; staff said these changes would force drivers to slow for the curve and reduce risk of vehicles failing the culvert.
Shabaugh described sediment removal, reshaping of the approach and minor curb extensions as the proposed work, and estimated the plan would use materials from the highway inventory and entail a minimal cost-share with the township. Commissioners asked about the township's willingness to cost-share and whether construction would affect county road budgets; staff said townships had indicated support and the county estimate for the work was roughly $15,000 total for the described adjustments, with a larger reconstruction option in the $50,000–$60,000 range if the county built a new intersection alignment.
Commissioners did not vote at the meeting but directed staff to continue discussions with the township and bring back a formal motion with cost-share proposals and a contractor estimate.
