The work scope includes replacement of the filtration system, lighting upgrades in the filter room and grout repairs while the pool is drained.
The project was publicly bid; staff said three bidders consulted the project but only one bid was received because schedule and summer manpower conflicts prevented two contractors from submitting proposals. After a post-bid interview, staff recommended Barzini Contracting as the lowest responsible bidder. The recommendation presented a total amount of $466,200: a hard construction amount of $423,781 and a construction contingency of $42,419. Staff said the work would be performed under a standard AIA contract pending legal review and funded from the sinking fund.
Staff said work is planned to start in late May or early June with a 4-6 week construction window; similar work at Churchill and Franklin pools is planned for next year. No formal contract award occurred at the study session; staff will request formal board approval on the regular meeting agenda.
