The Indianola Community School District Board of Education approved plans and specifications for baseball and softball field renovations prepared by Snyder Associates and discussed a funding contribution from private donors.
Trustees said coaches, Ryan (a district participant in planning) and Facilities staff had been consulted throughout the design process. Board members described recent on-site work at the high school project, including concrete pours, courtyard development, exterior grading on the north side and parking/concrete maintenance. The board also noted new speed-limit signage will be placed on Highway 92 in front of the campus between the middle and high schools.
If the board approves the project and bids proceed on the projected schedule, construction would begin after the CRC season and be ready for the next school year, trustees said. Bids were anticipated in early May if plans were approved at this meeting. Trustees said donor contributions to the two athletic projects totaled "just short of a million." The board also credited Facilities staff for completing several in-house items that reduced contract costs.
The motion to approve the plans carried unanimously.
