The consent package was presented as a single roll-call motion and passed. Board members voted yes on the motion; Board member Bond recorded abstentions on two listed minutes items (5.02 and 5.04) during the vote.
The consent agenda grouped dozens of routine items — minutes, financial reports, cafeteria reports, budget transfers and personnel appointments — into a single vote. Specific business and facilities items spelled out on the agenda and approved under the consent motion included: the purchase and installation of the middle-school rooftop HVAC unit (listed at $425,000 to CM3), replacement of the exterior marquee (contracting KC Signs & Awnings listed on the agenda), renewal of the district’s three-year participation in the Berlin County Insurance Pool (BCIP JIF) and resolutions authorizing the business administrator to open online reverse auctions for electricity and natural gas supply.
Board members were given the opportunity to pull individual items from the consent agenda for separate discussion; no items were removed prior to the roll-call vote. The board president read the standard consent-agenda motion language explaining that any board member could request removal of items for discussion before the vote.
The board did not discuss details of each vendor contract during the public meeting. The business administrator said the results of the electric supply auction will be reported at the next meeting and that the district is not obligated to accept auction results if they are unfavorable. The business administrator also reported that the state had approved the district’s tentative 2025–26 budget and that a public budget hearing will be advertised for the board’s May 5 meeting.
Other routine approvals included updates to job descriptions, approval of out-of-district placements and home-instruction services, acceptance of a donation for Northern Burlington High School and several policy adoptions and regulations listed on the agenda.
The board Chair called the roll and announced the motion passed.
