Cascade City Council on April 14 approved a purchase of a new truck chassis and plow package after staff described options and field visits to assess equipment.
City staff presented two chassis bids and a competitive review of plow equipment. Staff recommended an International truck chassis to match prior specifications and a Henderson plow system with an extendable wing and electronic joystick controls. Staff explained the Henderson system provides more in‑cab adjustment and flexibility than the alternative "junior wing" option and described a test/inspection visit to a neighboring town's Henderson installation.
The council discussed technical details, including a sealed electronic control enclosure, multi-leaf rear suspension, a stainless box specification and a 14-foot box length. Staff noted an option to pay the plow vendor within 30 days to receive a 3.5 percent discount; the plan would use FY25 funds for the plow deposit and FY26 funds for the chassis.
Councilmember Delaney moved to approve Resolution 39-25 to purchase the specified chassis and plow equipment; Weber seconded. The motion passed on a roll call with councilmembers Delaney, Oliphant, Weber, Hush and Gail recorded as "Aye."
